The Academy's Charging and Remissions Policy follows LA guidance. See the policy section of this website.
A statement of the school's Ethos and Values is shown in the 'Our School' section under the heading 'Mission and Aims'.
See the policy section for all other policies. A paper copy of any of these documents is available to parents/carers free of charge, within 24 hours notice, for administration purposes.
Sections 449-462 of the Education Act 1996 set out the law on charging for school activities in schools maintained by local authorities in England.
We do charge for optional extras; this includes lunch and after-school clubs (because this is education provided outside of school session times that is not part of the National Curriculum). For more details please see our 'Charging and Remissions Policy' in our policies section.
Occasionally, we ask parents/carers for a voluntary contribution for specific school activities (usually a class trip or to pay for a visitor to school). No child is excluded from an activity simply because his or her parents/carers are unwilling or unable to pay. If insufficient voluntary contributions are raised to fund an activity, then it would be cancelled.
Throughout the year we hold a number of events to raise additional funds for the school, e.g. Christmas Fair, Sponsored Walk. The Governors have an agreed criteria for using this additional money. We also seek parent and pupil views how they would like the monies to be spent for the benefit of the whole school community.
The Governors have agreed to subsidise all school visits and key events e.g. Pantomime. The cost charged per child is after this subsidy has been taken into account.
